Oh dear. Having now seen St Trinian's, I am unsure why I even bothered. This film is the sixth movie to have been inspired by the very un-PC girls school created by cartoonist Robert Searle - and by all reports they have all been aimed at teenage girls and not my demographic. Indeed this was just dumb. Some reviewers have lamented that the first film - The Belles of St Trinian's - from 1954 was the best and it has all been downhill from there.

So what happens? We start off with shady character Carnaby Fritton (Rupert Everett) arriving at St Trinian's with his daughter Annabelle (Talulah Riley) who has been kicked out of Cheltenham Ladies College. The new school is run by his sister Miss Fritton (also played by Everett) and the school is a complete disaster full of bullying, gambling, weaponry and the like. The film is full of all the kinds of stereotypes you would expect in a contemporary school.

Then the school comes under challenge from education minister Geoffrey Thwaites (Colin Firth) who tries to shut the school down. Of course the girls need to rise t the challenge to stop this from happening. You can guess where it goes from there.

The one great thing about the movie is the costumes which are pretty cool. Otherwise this has no real redeeming characteristics at all.
